Special Note 1. Between White & Blue Tape
The AFL Cletop Blue tape has a coarser weave, while the White tape has a finer weave. The white tape was developed to prevent smaller connectors from getting snagged in the tape’s fabric.
Cletop Blue Tape
- Weave: Coarser weave.
- Purpose: Designed for cleaning larger, 2.5mm ferrules.
- Issue: In some cases, newer, smaller connectors could snag on the coarser blue fabric.
Cletop White Tape
- Weave: Finer weave.
- Purpose: Specifically designed to prevent smaller connectors (like LC and MU) from snagging in the tape’s fabric, providing a better cleaning experience for reduced-size ferrules.
- Recommendation: AFL Global recommends using the white replacement tapes in all Cletop and Cletop-S cleaners.
Special Note 2: Between AFL CLETOP SA & AFL CLETOP SB
The primary difference is that the AFL CLETOP-SB (Type B) is designed for a wider range of connector types and sizes, including MPO/MTP connectors, whereas the CLETOP-SA (Type A) is specifically for smaller LC and other 1.25mm ferrules. Both are part of the second-generation CLETOP-S series of optical connector cleaners, offering improved ergonomic design, a drop-in tape cartridge, and enhanced cleaning performance compared to the original CLETOP model.
Differences:
CLETOP-SA (Type A)
- Purpose: Primarily designed for cleaning 1.25mm ferrules, such as those used in LC and MU connectors.
- Features: Has two openings specifically to guide 2.5mm ferrules, making it less helpful for other connector sizes.
CLETOP-SB (Type B)
- Purpose: Designed for a broader range of connector types, including SC, FC, ST, DIN, D4, MU, LC, and also MPO/MTP and MT-RJ without guide pins.
- Features: Offers greater versatility for cleaning different connector types compared to the Type A model.
