Description
- The SignalMaster HD from Elvid is a compact and versatile bidirectional up/down/cross converter. Whether a signal is generated by a laptop or a pro camcorder, the SignalMaster HD’s HDMI and 3G-SDI inputs and outputs provide simultaneous input of virtually any video signal type and convert and scale it for monitors, switchers, and recorders. It allows HDMI and SDI gear to be seamlessly integrated into a single setup. Several output options are also available, including loop-through, scaling, and signal conversion from HDMI to SDI, or from SDI to HDMI. Audio output pairs can also be configured from its audio menu.
- The Signalmaster HD offers scaling and conversion features that will support many different broadcast, streaming, and live event applications. To ensure A/V components seamlessly work together, an A/V integrator can use the Signalmaster HD to convert, scale, and distribute an HDMI signal to the multiple SDI outputs. The frame rate conversion function can integrate foreign source material that was captured at a different frame rate into a signal that’s compatible with local standards. For multisource setups, a frame buffer allows the transition between out-of-sync signals without unwanted flickering.
- This versatile unit is powered by the included power supply or via the USB-C port connected to a battery or USB wall charger. Rugged aluminum construction makes it perfect for travel and demanding production environments.
- Up/Down/Cross Conversion
- The SignalMaster HD cross converts HDMI and SDI signals without noticeable latency and routes them to SDI and HDMI outputs. Up and down frame rate conversion to the required standard is equally seamless.

- Frame Rate Conversion: Conforming video that was captured with different frame rates to a single output standard is another reason the Signalmaster HD should be in every production setup. You can convert HDMI and SDI signals to match the frame rate that’s compatible with local standards.
- Frame Reference Sync: The SignalMaster HD can sync the internal scaler’s frame buffer to a selected input signal. This feature is ideal for multisource setups where switcher transitions between out-of-sync signals produce unwanted artifacts like flickering. The converter can reference an SDI or HDMI input signal or run independently without the need to reference an external signal.
- User-Friendly Interface with Large LCD Screen: The large LCD screen makes it fast and easy to scroll to the various menus and change operational settings. An intuitive interface lets you make quick adjustments, switch inputs and outputs, and convert and scale signals on the fly.
- 3G-SDI and HDMI Inputs and Outputs: The SignalMaster HD allows you to simultaneously input HDMI and SDI signals. With flexible and intuitive routing, the SignalMaster HD will loop through or cross-convert, upscale, or downscale the signals and output virtually any standard used by your target devices.
- Progressive Segmented Frame (PsF): The PsF option lets you integrate incompatible interleaved and progressive equipment into the same system. The scanner can add PsF flag metadata to an incoming 1080i video signal so that compatible equipment can recognize the signal and reconstruct it into a progressive-scan visual.
- HDMI Output Formatting: The HCMI CS options make it easy to format the HDMI output signal and configure audio channels for different types of HDMI monitors, switchers, and projectors. Select RGB or YCbCr color spaces, and from two to eight audio channels.
- 3G-SDI Level A and B Input/Output: The SignalMaster HD executes conversion between 3G-SDI Level A and 3G-SDI Level B signals for compatibility with a wide variety of SDI gear.
- Output Orientation: The SignalMaster HD provides the option of flipping the output HDMI or SDI signal along horizontal and vertical axes. This feature is useful when projecting an image from behind a screen or to a teleprompter, or if the projector is hanging inverted from a ceiling mount.
- Software Control: Attach your computer to the USB-C port and use the SignalMaster HD app to access all its features without interrupting your workflow.
- Rugged Aluminum Housing: The lightweight and low-profile SignalMaster HD was made for travel. Keep it in the studio, or put it in your gear bag and take it to locations, remote broadcast or podcast venues, and presentations. The substantial aluminum chassis will take the dings and bumps of transport as well as the demands of a studio environment.
- Camera and Tripod Mountable: A 1/4″-20 mounting socket can be used to attach the SignalMaster HD to a camera rig, tripod, or light stand. Keep it accessible and nearby, but away from clutter and busy hands. Locking SDI connectors and barrel power input ensure connections aren’t lost from accidental cable strain or tugs.
