- Commercial Fire Rating of Class 125 2-Hour for magnetic media, hard drives, backup drives, film, and photographs. The “125” fire rating means the temperature will not exceed 125 degrees inside the safe during a fire. This low temperature is required to protect your data and media. This is unique to data safes and why they are more expensive.

This means the temperature inside the safe will not go above 125 degrees during a commercial fire. That is cooler than a car sitting in the sun on a hot day! Why so cool? Magnetic media is incredibly sensitive to heat. If you were to place your backup tapes in a standard fireproof safe they would be ruined. This extra protection comes at a price, but it is worth it.
